PERMARS OF MARYLAND

A BRANCH OF THE PERMARS LIVED ON THE EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND, WHERE THEY FARMED, DURING THE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR. A WILLIAM PERAMR(PAMOUR IN A MUSTER ROLL FOR MARYLAND) ENLISTED AND FOUGHT ALONG SIDE LAFAYETTE.
THIS WILLIAM PERMAR , WHO DIED IN 1779, IS THE GRANDFATHER OF HENRY PERMAR OF DELAWARE COUNY, PA, AND FATHER OF JOHN PERMAR, WHO MOVED TO OHIO WHEN HIS MOTHER REMARRIED AFTER WILLIAM PERMAR'S DEATH AND FOUNDED THE CLAN THERE.
ON THE COMMENTS AND QUESTION, IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THE PERMARS SETTLED IN STUEBENVILLE,OHIO. AND THAT IS WHERE JOHN SETTLED. THANKS FOR ASKING.

Hi, Linda: I've been helping my stepfather, Robert Permar, research his family history. He grew up in Steubenville, Ohio and Morgantown, WV, and his parents, David Milo Permar and Harriet Hamilton, are buried in a cemetery in Pt. Marion, PA, which is just five miles down the road from my mother's house in Morgantown, WV.

His family also had a story that the original Permar had fought alongside Lafayette, which is something I see online from lots of people who are searching for Permar genealogy information.

My question to you is where in Ohio John Permar settled after leaving Maryland. We have just started getting hard data on Bob's family, as the family doesn't appear to have been very close or revealing of information, but I do know that Bob's grandfather was also named John and settled here in Morgantown to do work as a glass blower (very big industry around here in early 1900's).

Thanks for any pointers.

I am a descendant of Henry Permar of Deleware co, PA who is apparently a son of the first marriage of his father, William. Had family stories passed down that mentioned the House of Navarre and also a Spanish-French marriage which fits with the story.
I traveled to Valletta, Malta (used to be owned by Spain) and found the Permar/PerMarr crest in a collection in the Valletta library.
All very interesting...
